My Life!!

FAMILY AND FRIENDS

I have a Mom, a Dad, and two brothers in my family. Go see my eldest bro's page here. My younger brother (not younger than me, younger than the oldest) is going to school here, through a program with Oberlin College. My Mom's an editor (quite a good one, too, I think) at the Omohundro Institute of Early American History and Culture. Whew! That's a mouthful! My Dad is a historian/ writer/ professor. One of my brothers is in college, the other just graduated grad school. Cool, huh? I guess. I enjoy having my parents' attentions all to myself and I think I appreciate my brothers' visits home more this way. I often hang out with my friends and talk too much with them during classes.

SCHOOL

I'm in the York County School System, at Bruton high School. I have some school spirit and only care about some sports, like: field hockey, tennis (my sport!), etc. Basically all the really girl-y preppy sports. But believe me, I am not a prep! I was on our school's JV Academic Challenge, which is sort of like Jeopardy except that we don't have to answer in the form of a question and the questions are a lot easier! We did all right, but not spectacularly. Now I play tennis and even though I'm not great at it, I'm having a blast! Also, because of AC and tennis, I've met a lot of great people and am generally enjoying myself very much. I'm doing pretty well in all my classes. These are the classes I took and my final grades for the year, which ended June 10, 1998:
(1) School of the Arts Drama - A
(2) Gym/Health - A
(3) Biology - B
(4) English - A
(7) World History - B
(5) Geometry - B
(6) French - A
Not too great, but not too bad. The funniest grade in my opinion was the one for gym. An A! Ha! I just don't know what to tell you. I guess the teacher recognized that I participated in class. But no, that's giving her too much credit. The big news, that you should have read about on my main page, is that next year I will be living and going to school in Denmark. My school will be called the Vestre Skole, and no, it is not an english-speaking school. It is for 14 - 16 year olds, and they have a "reception" class for foreigners, wherein they will teach me danish. Beyond that, I am totally virgin to the school system in Odense. To make matters worse, there was this whole big controversy about whether I would miss the first week of school or not, because we get on the plane for Denmark on August 1st, and school starts August 3rd, and we weren't going to be able to move in to our rented house until August 8th. Whew! It's pretty complicated. But now it's all good because we are going to rent out another person's house for the first week that we are there, so I will probably be at school the first day. However, I will know nothing about finding my way around the school or anything. Arrgghh! Oh well. It will all work out. I hope.

Well, now I'm finished (kinda). Check back here for updates, because my life doesn't always stay the same! :)
